From John:
Well, let’s give everyone a report on the event. It was a lot of fun. We talked to many folks as usual. We got to compare notes with our fellow Ev groups here in Texas. Both Austin and San Antonio where there with us. Houston didn’t come. Alfonso from San Antonio was there with his Porsche 911 which was very cool. He plans to sell them competed. It runs well with the big 11 inch motor. Then there was a three wheeler that was extreme. It was A/C motored. Then an older Jeep. Nice toy. Austin had their Mazda 3 which their club members are selling from a company they have called Re-volt. They want to build these all the same and charge $50,000 per copy! So, we need a “profit center” in our chapter! They also had a member’s car which was a Saturn. Nice car. They gave rides in it. They managed to “lay a patch” each time they left the show area on a test ride. We had our share of attention as you can see from Mike’s pictures. Mike, David, Paul, myself, and Nancy did their share of talking to folks. Mr Gooch was there and spoke with some folks for us. In general, EV’s were well represented.

We pulled the car out on Sat evening so we could get an early start home on Sunday as well as we then went to the other venders to get info we wanted on other things like wind, solar, eco-building products and such. There was a lot of info there. Had lots of fun but don’t know if I want to spend that effort and money again. You know I’ll be ready again next year.

Special thanks to Mike and David Barkley for setting up the trailer and David’s F-250 Diesel for transporting the Fiero and their work at the show. That was a 700 mile trip!

NTEAA at Dallas Green Show

Greetings Mr. Brecher,

On behalf of the City of Dallas , Office of Environmental Quality, I would like to invite you to participate in our upcoming Green Festival on September 20th, from 10am to 2pm in honor of National Pollution Prevention week.

The City of Dallas , Office of Environmental Quality is hosting Pollution Prevention week, September 15-20th.

We will be having a week of small educational events during the lunch hour for City of Dallas employees leading up to our big Green Festival at City Hall on Saturday, the 20th from 10am-2pm.

The event will be open to the public and City of Dallas employees.

There will be tables with non-profit educational organizations, city environmental departments, kid activities, green product vendors, and free food.

We would like to invite you to participate in the festival on Saturday by having a table with information about the North Texas Electric Auto Association. I think it would be great to have information about the past meetings, how to become a member, and perhaps bring an electric car or two.

There is no cost to you and we will provide a table and two chairs. Set up is at 9:30am and take down from 2-2:30pm.

NTEAA Monthly Meeting

Well, as several have said, this was a very good meeting! Thanks so much for all who attended. The weather was very “iffy” and so many of you braved it to attend. It was 30 plus folks including three VERY well behaved young folks.

Thanks to Bill, Norris, and Mark for the very informative presentations. We all enjoyed you offering your knowledge of things we need to operate an EV. I know you new folks may have been a bit overloaded with technology but you saw we have a group of members who can help you enter our world of EV’s. I’m sorry none of us had an EV there today but I “chickened out” with the rain. Jared is doing a large redo on his Fiero and everybody has seen the Sparrow so we were without an EV, but the presentations made up for that. We will have a presentation or two at each meeting. We will try to step thru what is needed to make an EV. For the next meeting I’m suggesting an overview of a basic DC EV layout.

I was surprised with Nancy and Mike’s birthday thing. I’m getting to the age where I think those come too quickly. I don’t often get surprised but you guys did today. Thanks so much.

Now I don’t have to get a shirt made for the Dallas and Fredricksburg shows! The pricing on those shirts was very good that Mike found. Mike is going to get a price for them and we can then offer them for purchase. The ones we had have served but we need a little dressier version like this new one. Thank you Mike.

I will get details together for our October meeting chili cookout here at our house. You folks remember that it was Nancy’s suggestion to do it, right?

Again, thanks for a great meeting.
Gratefully, your President,
John L. Brecher
