The October meeting of the North Texas Electric Auto Association (NTEAA) was held on October 20, 2012 at Tanners Electronics in Carrolton Texas.  President Ron Swanson opened the meeting.

Ron has obtained a level II commercial charger from EVgo and is looking for a home for it.  Tanner’s was suggested but Ron is also looking for other alternatives.  If you have any suggestions, email Ron.

Old business included a summary of National Plug in day and the ECO fair at Pesi Co.  Ron stated that there was very little attendance at the ECO fair.  Ron had Neil’s VW and there was EV’s from Mitsubishi, Toyota (plug in), and Nissan.

Upcoming events include the EV rally on the 15th of November before our regular meeting.  There will be three cars, two Leaf’s and a iMev.  We are looking for volunteers for 3 teams of six people.  We will start at 10AM and drive until the meeting on Saturday at 10 AM.  The goal is to see how far we can drive in 24 hours using any charging source available. All three cars will be level III equipped.  Please contact Ron if you want to drive for a team.

The December meeting of the NTEAA will be at Joel’s house with the holiday train.  Joel has been injured and cannot move around very well.  He needs help completing the lights. If you would like to volunteer, please see the contact at:  Joel will not be able to complete the lights without help!

Cars at the meeting included Ron, Paul’s and Stanton’s Leafs, Michael’s VW, Stan’s electric bike, and William Petefish’s Tesla model S.  Stan has upgraded his bicycle using some extra 60 Ah batteries from his motorcycle project. He drove the bike 20 miles to the Tanner event!   The hits of the show were Michael’s upgraded VW and William’s Tesla.  Michael has just installed a 100 amp hour per cell, 175 volt LiFePO4 pack in the VW.  His range should be in the 50’s with great improvement in handling and acceleration.  He has also installed a J1772 charge plug on the front of the car.  William brought the beautiful Tesla Model S.  It was delivered early this month.  William reported that he saw another white Tesla Model S on Forrest Lane and for a time they drove side by side.

We also enjoyed the robot show and activity in the parking lot.  There were some impressive robots on display. This was a great meeting; hopefully we can do it again next year.
