The July 2013 Meeting of the NTEAA was held Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Plano Environmental Education Center, 4116 W Plano Pkwy in conjunction with the center’s “Go Green, Breathe Clean” event. Several organizations manned tables inside the center including NTEAA with our EV Demonstration Box.

Several of the NTEAA members demonstrated and explained their EV’s outside the center. Norris Lauer demonstrated his iMieV, Jerry Jorgenson his Tesla, several showed their Leaf’s, and Mike Harris explained his converted VW.

Platinum LEED Certification

The Plano Environmental Education Center was built in 2011 and is certified as a LEED Platinum facility. Autumn Dillon was in charge of the facility on Saturday, Autumn says that because of the wind generator and solar array, the center has not paid a power bill since it opened. The center has one Blink Electric Vehicle charging station. The Blink station was failing Self Test and not working when we got there. I called it in to the Blink Network Center. I got Autumn to allow me to cycle power to the Blink and got it working. Ralph Logan was then able to charge his Leaf for an hour. The Blink center told me that continually failing Self Test is a known problem that requires a hardware upgrade. Blink added the unit to their list of stations requiring the upgrade.
